Relics Exhibition 2005

The Relics Exhibition on the Labor Day weekend successfully ended on September 4. It was estimated that more than 400 visitors came to the display to see the holy Relics from the Buddhist sages; many visitors were from other States such as Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and even as far as Minnesota.

It took a lot of effort organizing this event. The dedication from our volunteers and their efficiency to pull this activity together in a short time earned acknowledgement from the Relics Touring team and the visitors. Many major newspapers in Chicago area, including Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald, reported this event in details prior to or on the same day of its opening. Thanks to our publicity team led by Ms. Eleanor Wang.

This is our first time hosting the Relics Exhibition. The Relic Tour

guardians notified Director Li-Su Tan the evening before the opening and closing day respectively that it is customary to have the host group lead some types of prayer services at the opening and closing ceremonies. Director Li-Su soon determined the prayer contents and Ms. Chi-Fang Duong called each member of the Instrument Team; the team, without any rehearsal, conducted successfully the services in the opening and closing ceremonies respectively.

The beautiful prayer services touched many visitors. Lama Karma Sherpa was moved so much by listening to the Amitabha Sutra reciting that he requested for more than 10 copies of the Sutra, the CDs, and the chanting devices. This is an unforgettable experience.
