The Amitabha Buddhist Library in Chicago was actively involved in the distribution and circulation
of Dharma teaching materials even before its opening in May 2003. Since December 2002, the library,
acting on behalf of the Pure Land Learning College in Australia, has assisted the Corporate Body
of Buddha Education Foundation in Taiwan and the Hwa-Dzan Pure Land Association in Taiwan
in the donation of Dharma materials.
These donations have included more than one hundred sets of the Qianlong
Great Buddhist Canon, and a vast number of Dharma books and materials in Chinese, English, Pali, Burmese,
and other languages. Recipients have included research institutes, national libraries, and university
libraries in many countries. In addition to spreading the Buddha¡¦s teaching, the donation is helping
to foster communication and understanding among people of different cultures.
In the United States, recipients include the Library of Congress; Harvard University; Stanford University;
MIT; Cornell University; Columbia University; the University of Pennsylvania; Princeton University;
the University of Wisconsin, Madison; the University of North Carolina; the University of California,
Berkeley; John Hopkins University; New York University; the University of Chicago; and the University
